BAD BREATH (MOUTH SMELL)
Bad breath (also known as halitosis or malodor) can be embarrassing and tough on those around you. Some people don’t realize their breath could peel paint because people are afraid to tell them. Even bad breath can ruin relationships, too.
Bad Breath in Your Mouth
Bad breath is often caused by accumulation of bacteria in your mouth that causes inflammation and gives off noxious odors or gases that smell like sulfur or worse.
The Reasons
- Cavities or gum disease can lead to bad breath, as can tonsils that have trapped food particles; cracked fillings, and less-than-clean dentures.
- Diabetes, liver disease, respiratory tract infections, and chronic bronchitis can cause bad breath
- In people with advanced gum disease, there are inaccessible areas that are not possible to clean on their own. Such areas, such as deep gingival pockets, also cause bad odor.
- Causes like acid reflux, postnasal drip, and other causes of chronic dry mouth.
Treating the Bad Smell
At our clinic, special equipment is used to determine the level of your halitosis. The treatment for bad smelling caused by the mouth will be prepared individually and consist of generally abolishing the preoccupation of nutrition inside the mouth, cleaning out infections and decaying teeth, and reducing the number of bacteria placed into the mouth with the oral care methods.
The Reasons
- Paradontales disease and infection and mucosal disease, mouth cancer
- Oropharyngées Anomalies (cleft palate, velopharyngeal insufficiency)
- The problems with dentures and implants, tooth decay, tartar, and gingival diseases
- Conditions that cause postnasal drip
- The conditions which cause (stress, medicines, Sjögren Syndrome, avitaminosis (vitamin deficiency) diabetes mellitus, menopause)
- An accumulation of debris on the tongue
- Nasal obstruction and patient’s nasals (polyps, septal perforation adenoids removed)
- Respiratory system diseases (chronic lung infections, tuberculosis, cancer, bronchiectasis, lung abscess)
- Foreign objects in the respiratory tract
- Gastrointestinal diseases (esophageal diverticulum, esophagitis stenosis, achalasia, esophageal foreign body, hiatal hernia, GERD, esophagus)
- Gastric cancer, peptic ulcer, Hp gastritis, liver cirrhosis, pyloric stenosis, gastritis, hypokinesia, based malabsorption syndromes, GIS bleeding, parasites, food poisoning)
- Chronic renal failure, autoimmune diseases
- Hematological diseases
- Psychological Reasons
- Hunger
- Some of the food consumed, protein-rich foods, onion, garlic, odoriferous food such as radish, some spices, coffee, alcoholism), smoking
Requirements for Continuous Oral Care
It is not enough to use only a toothbrush for oral care. In order to get rid of bacteria and the bad breath and other negative effects they cause, dental floss, under-bridge floss and tongue scrapers should be used. It is also useful to use antibacterial mouthwashes when necessary.
