IMPACTED TOOTH
The tooth which does not reveal on the mouth in time is called an “impacted tooth.’’ The third biggest molar teeth (which are known as wisdom teeth) are the most commonly impacted teeth. If there is not enough zone for the third biggest molar teeth and this situation continues if the person is 25 years old, these teeth are called “impacted teeth.” They can find just small zones sometimes for being revealed, but it could never reach the full length. If your third biggest molar teeth have no chance to be revealed, you can visit your dentist to get more information and you can make them extracted before problems exist as gingival disorders, decay, infection, and pain.
Is it possible to be revealed the wisdom teeth when person is 30 years old?
The dental bud of the wisdom teeth begins to occur at 15-16 years old. It can exist in your mouth as non-revealed, semi-revealed, or revealed at increased ages. If a person who is 30 years old had a dental bud of the wisdom teeth, it could be revealed, semi-revealed, or non-revealed.
What is the reason of the impacted teeth cannot be revealed into the mouth?
According to a theory, if a person takes a genetically wide form of the jaw from one of his/her parents and takes a narrow jaw from his/her other parents, the wisdom teeth do have not enough zones to be revealed and it rests as impacted teeth. And there is another occasion that wisdom teeth first grow up horizontally during normal growth, and after the grown jaw and the improvement of the teeth, they turn first mesioangular and then vertical. If they can not realize the movement following the rotation axis of teeth, they rest as impacted teeth.
Is it necessary to extract the wisdom teeth if there is not a disorder about them?
Even if you do not have any disorder in your wisdom teeth, you should get a panoramic x-ray so that your dentist can give you some advice. It could be evaluated after if there is not any problem as their position, infection, lack of space, decay, or halitosis. But it should not be forgotten that they can be revealed at the same time and cause bigger problems and pain. You can extract them to prevent being subject to a problem like this.
What kind of problems we can face unless the impacted tooth is extracted?
- The wisdom tooth weakens the bone support of the second biggest molar tooth and there could occur the periodontal (gingival) problem in the zone which is already hard to be cleaned. Extracting the wisdom tooth like this in the early period prevents periodontal problems.
- It causes gingival apsis (pericoronitis)
- For some erupted teeth, the infection in this zone springs the soft tissue too and it causes halitosis, pain, and edema.
- The situation that the mouth cannot be opened (trismus) can occur in some instances. If this case advances more, it can spread the neck and cheek zone. This zone is inclined to infect as it cannot be easily cleaned.
- When the wisdom tooth is impacted or half-impacted, the bacteria which cause decay teeth can form decays in both teeth by affecting both the second biggest molar tooth and the wisdom tooth.
- The impacted tooth can cause melting the root of adjacent teeth by pressing on it.
- It can be seen the cystic occurrence is inflicted because the follicle (cover) around the impacted tooth does not resorber while erupting. These occurrences can cause erosion in the bone by growing and weaken the jaw bone by creating big gaps in the bone. These gaps can cause snags into the jaw bone. Sometimes, although rare these cysts can become tumors. The wisdom teeth extraction must be punctually done in order not to take all of these risks.
The pain of the impacted teeth is felt in which zones particularly?
The wisdom teeth can cause pressure pain in that zone by pressing adjacent teeth too while erupting. Generally, the impacted teeth on the lower jaw can cause earache and sore throat. The upper impacted teeth can cause pain felt in the sinus zone. There can be some aches in the eyes and noise too. Extracting the impacted tooth can provide to disappear pain complaints.
Is it possible to extract the impacted teeth if there is a painful and swelling situation?
The case in point is a general acute and active infection. It is necessary to radio by making the patient use the antibiotics and by getting under control of oral hygiene. Otherwise, the factor of spreading the adjacencies of infection occurs, the anesthetics agent’s effect becomes less and it increases the feeling the pain by the patient during the operation. The recovery process of the infected zone will be harder and longer after the operation.
What is the most appropriate time for extraction of the impacted tooth?
Even though there is not any specific time to extract the impacted tooth, it would be better to extract them between 20-30 age concerning be faster and without any problem in the recovery process. The operations which will be realized over 40 years old will be harder, the post-operation process will pass harder and the recovery interval will be longer.
