ORAL CARE IN PREGNANCY
While pregnancy, the acid level increases in the saliva. This makes the teeth weaker and teeth could have cavities. The future mother must keep her mouth clean. If she has problems with their gums, these problems might get worse. She may refrain from brushing their teeth when they have bleeding inside the mouth. This cause more bacteria, more redness and more bleeding on the gum. This is called gingivitis of pregnancy. It starts in the 2nd month and reaches the top in the 8th month. “Every pregnancy makes a tooth lost” is a rumor.
Bleeding and gingival sensitivity can occur due to the effect of hormonal changes and changing food habits and the throwing up seen in the first months of the pregnancy.
The future mother must keep her mouth clean, brush her teeth regularly and use dental floss. Naturally, the future mother should visit her dentist regularly, too.
The Teeth Treatment in Pregnancy
It is necessary to go to your dentist regularly during pregnancy. If any sharp pain or infection appears, the treatment should be done whenever during pregnancy.
